National Women's Month in the Philippines is celebrated
in March and includes International Women's Day on March 8. The
month-long observance recognizes Filipino women's contributions to society and
advocates for gender equality.
History
- In
1988, President Corazon Aquino signed Proclamation No. 224, which
established the first week of March as Women's Week and March 8 as Women's
Rights and International Peace Day
- In
1988, President Aquino also signed Proclamation No. 227, which declared
March as Women's Role in History Month
- In
1990, President Aquino signed Republic Act No. 6949, which declared March
8 as National Women's Day
