National Women's Month 2025

National Women's Month in the Philippines is celebrated in March and includes International Women's Day on March 8. The month-long observance recognizes Filipino women's contributions to society and advocates for gender equality. 

History 

  • In 1988, President Corazon Aquino signed Proclamation No. 224, which established the first week of March as Women's Week and March 8 as Women's Rights and International Peace Day
  • In 1988, President Aquino also signed Proclamation No. 227, which declared March as Women's Role in History Month
  • In 1990, President Aquino signed Republic Act No. 6949, which declared March 8 as National Women's Day

  • Activities include screenings, campaigns, and special offers
  • Advocates wear purple on Thursdays
  • Government agencies coordinate with local and regional groups
  • Agencies share their Women's Month stories on social media
